And in Linux, no chance you can get them executed in the terminal. So to get these 16bit applications work on you current operating system, you got to use an emulator.</p><p>DOS Box is one such emulator,an open source which will work on any of the latest versions of Windows and on Linux, Mac &amp; Solaris. DOS Box serves as the heart of the emulation, where you need a separate front-end for display. The good part is that the front-ends are available for free in DOS Box website.</p><p>Here is the list of front-ends available for DOS Box:</p><table
border="1"><tbody><tr><td>Frontend Name</td><td>In use with</td></tr><tr><th>ProGammaX</th><th>.NET</th></tr><tr><th>AmpShell</th><th>.NET</th></tr><tr><th>Sir DOSalot</th><th>Mac OS X</th></tr><tr><th>DAppleGrey</th><th>Mac OS X</th></tr><tr><th>Radnor</th><th>Mac OS X</th></tr><tr><th>Boxer</th><th>Mac OS X</th></tr><tr><th>Petit DOSBox</th><th>Mac OS X</th></tr><tr><th>DOSBoxFront</th><th>OS/2</th></tr><tr><th>D.O.G</th><th>Windows</th></tr><tr><th>DOSshell</th><th>Windows</th></tr><tr><th>RobyDOSBox</th><th>Windows</th></tr><tr><th>DBFrontEnd</th><th>Windows</th></tr><tr><th>Jamyda</th><th>Java</th></tr><tr><th>DOSBox Game Launcher</th><th>Java</th></tr></tbody></table><p><strong>How to Play DOS Games in Windows and Linux:</strong></p><ol><li>Download &amp; Install DOS Box from here.</li><li>Open the DOS Box icon to get started.</li><li>The DOS prompt flashed up with drive letter <strong>&#8220;Z:&#8221;</strong></li><li>Mount the drive in which the game is present. Incase they are present in &#8220;D:\games&#8221; you can assign that sub-folder as a drive (Eg. Drive J) with the command &#8220;<strong>MOUNT J: D:\games&#8221;</strong></li><li>Type &#8220;<strong>J:</strong>&#8221; and press Enter</li><li>Now browse to the specific folder using &#8220;<strong>CD</strong>&#8221; command and open the application.</li><li>Press &#8220;<strong>Alt+Enter</strong>&#8221; for full-screen mode.</li></ol><p><strong>Screenshots:</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div
