GoDaddy, one of the Internet’s largest suppliers of domains, hosting, and network attached storage, chose to actively support SOPA much to the surprise of many. While many other large companies actively spoke out against the legislation, GoDaddy stood behind it and even released statements in support of the act.

However, the company, after experiencing a huge backlash from internet users, decided to withdrawal its support of SOPA. But it may be too little, too late.

After expressing support of SOPA, GoDaddy witnessed an above average transfer of domains. Other registrars began offering discounts to those that transferred their accounts from GoDaddy to their own. Code names poked at GoDaddy’s support of the legislation and read “NODADDY,” “NOSOPA,” and “BYEBYEGD.” Reddit account holders actively campaigned on the site, asking other users to transfer their domains immediately, and many quickly complied. Imgur and several other large firms also chose to boycott GoDaddy, and December 29th was deemed “Move Your Domain” Day for anyone else wishing to boycott GoDaddy.

Because of the backlash GoDaddy received, many believe that GoDaddy’s new opposition of the legislation disingenuous, and believe the company is solely stating they now oppose SOPA as to not lose any more customers. Whether or not GoDaddy will actually demonstrate anti-SOPA support has yet to be seen.

One thing is for certain though, GoDaddy has greatly ruined its reputation by initially supporting SOPA. They may be able to gain some clients back over time, but the support of an Act that could negatively impact the internet in such a profound way has left too many wary. Some have even titled GoDaddy as the “biggest villain of the Internet.”

If GoDaddy wishes to gain any positive support in the near, they are going to have to fight hard against SOPA. However, considering their half-hearted stance against SOPA, the likelihood of GoDaddy actively opposing the Act, and thus winning back their previous customers’ support, is highly unlikely.

It was recently reported by Wired that over 200 labels pulled their music from streaming services such as Spotify, Rdio, and Mog. Artists have been complaining that they are not seeing any revenue stream from their efforts and that the pay rate from streamed music is so miniscule that they shouldn’t even bother offering their music.

A contradictory report from Cnet claims that of all the labels that pulled their music from the free streaming services, very few of them will affect the bottom line and business plans of the internet services. Most of the pulled content is from British indie dance labels which do not make the same amount of money as the major labels that are still on the Spotify network. The fact of the matter is that there is still a lot of music for free via steam and the record companies are making a serious lack of profits.

Another nail in the coffin of the music industry will come with the continued advancement of cloud computing. Apple is about to unveil their iCloud music storage plan which will allow iTunes users to store up to 25,000 songs in their network and access them wherever there is access to the Internet for $24.99 a year.

Google will also be unveiling their new music service which will fit perfectly with the Android operating system. The Washington Post reports that their cloud service will allow users to store up to 20,000 for free.

These cloud services will harm the record industry further because of the rampant pirating of copyrighted material through torrent sites. There are no restrictions to the amount of material Google, Apple, or Spotify allows on their cloud networks, so pirated music can now be hosted through corporate servers with little way for artists to profit off of the fruits of their labor.

A common argument amongst pirates is that information should be free and that if musicians want to make money off of their music, they shouldn’t be in the industry in the first place. The artists should be placing the blame on labels who allowed third party tech experts to develop the software to profit off of their work while clinging to outdated business models.

Most of the website giants fears that a lot might go wrong if this is passed,everyone should be on a high alert cause anything might happen like sudden fine,law suites  or ever lose their business altogether,  if they continue to have the same formats for instant YouTube or Facebook cause the law doesn’t go along with it so lota companies should start to change their entire website in other words format that it works which may not fit this new Bill.
Google said: “We strongly support the goal of the bill – cracking down on offshore websites that profit from pirated and counterfeited goods – but we’re concerned the way it’s currently written would threaten innovation, jobs and free expression.”
Google chairman Eric Schmidt said ” There’s a bill that would require ISPs to remove URLs from the web which is also known as censorship last time I checked,”
Katherine Oyama, Google’s policy counsel said “As long as there is money to be made pushing pirated and counterfeit products, tech-savvy criminals around the world will find ways to sell these products online,” also added “Ordering ISPs and search engines to ‘disappear’ websites will not change this fundamental reality“

The main concerns for websites like YouTube , Facebook or any another such site is that if there users are posting any link or streams which are unauthorized then the websites are the responsible for their users action and the site could be penalized blocked or even compromised so to save the business the these site might exclude posting or sharing video or find another alternative to do it safe and authorized which could start a another whole bunch of problems. , it would make it harder for Internet entrepreneurs to grown as this ACT will restrict things.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the “Justice Department could ask for a court order to compel U.S. search engines and other sites to block domain names or search results.”
“The worst part of this bill is that the vast majority of the damage will be invisible – it will be all the companies that never start because this bill has effectively killed them.”

American Censorship Day:
Most of the internet giants like Google ,Mozilla, Tumblr are against this bill as the online piracy could create more problem and it will encourage censorship and blacklisting
Companies like Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, AOL, LinkedIn, eBay, Mozilla Corporation, and Wikimedia Foundation, as well as human rights organizations such as Reporters Without Borders, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Human Rights Watch are against this Act

Mozilla, parent company of the famous Firefox web browser, blacked out its name on its home page as it reads “STOP CENSORSHIP” against the Act from passing this was also done by most of the companies who are against the Act and this day was named as American censorship day , Tumblr launched a page against the Act, and companies like Google, eBay, Facebook, Twitter ,Wikimedia ,Yahoo are all trying hard to stop SOPA. They issued a formal letter to the lawmakers which said “The bill as drafted would expose law-abiding U.S. Internet and technology companies to new uncertain liabilities, private rights of action and technology mandates that would require monitoring of Web sites,” the letter stated.

The US Justice Department, under the bill, could also request court orders to compel U.S. search engines and other sites to block domain names or search results. But Google told lawmakers that too many innocent websites could fall victim to the legislation without due process. they would not invest in Internet start-ups if new laws allowed websites to be sued or fined for pirated digital content posted by users.

Pits Of the SOPA:
*The government or the organization can block any website at any point of time in the name of privacy or censorship.
*Risk of Jail for Ordinary Users
*One can be held as long as 5 yrs prison time for streaming or sharing anything without authorization and also could be fined up to $2,500. This could happen to anyone, just sing a song share it on YouTube, or Facebook there’s a lots of chance this law could applied on to it.
*It could mean legitimate sites are also blocked, posting can be banned ,sharing could be a different thing altogether. Thousands of sites would face new legal threats.
The Act may be focused on online piracy for now but given the US Justice Department has a powers to shut down any website in the name of censorship might start new issue. A vote on the bill would be decided next month,So tell us your opinion on the new so called SOPA.

How to Restore hidden people in Facebook

1. Click on the down arrow next to the Most Recent link in the top of Facebook.
