Smart phones are for any time, but maybe not dinnertime! These tiny yet powerful mobile devices can be used at any time and in almost any location, but there are perhaps occasions when they should be switched off.

What is a Smart phone?

A smart phone is a technically enhanced hybrid device which combines the features of both a mobile phone and a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), making it more like a tiny mobile PC.

Standard Smart Phone Features

The most significant features that make a smart phone ‘smart’ are the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), which run third-party applications. Applications, commonly referred to as ‘apps’, are tiny software programs which can be downloaded and used by the device to perform a specific task.It almost goes without saying that all smart phones have an inbuilt app which enables them to receive 3G mobile broadband. Other standard features include digital camera, media player, GPS navigation and video capabilities.There are also literally thousands of other apps available to download, offering a seemingly endless list of functions. Many are intended to enhance or extend the existing functionality of inbuilt apps, while others may have a completely separate purpose which makes use of mobile broadband capabilities, with mobile games being good examples.

Photo-editing software, digital-music organisers and additional maps for GPS navigation are the most popular downloads. There is even an app which will allow the user to view, edit and create MS Office documents. The cost of downloading apps can vary, depending on who created them and their purpose, but many are available for free.

Smart phones also feature enhanced messaging capabilities. As well as text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS), they also support synchronised email. This enables the user to synchronise with multiple email accounts and instant-messaging services such as Yahoo! Messenger.

The last definitive feature of smart phones is that they have a QWERTY keyboard rather than a numeric keypad. There are many variations on this theme, with some smart phones offering the user the ability to alternate between numeric and QWERTY via the touch screen, while others have a physical QWERTY keypad which may be fixed or have a pull-out function.

Who Buys Smart Phones?

Just about everyone these days! But if we are talking about top-end smart phones, then it comes down to two distinct groups: corporate users and individuals.Many companies have seen the benefit of issuing their employees, especially those who work away from the office, with smart phones. It is a cheaper option than supplying both a laptop and mobile phone. Many actively encourage staff to use the video calling function rather than normal voice calls to promote interactivity.Individuals are rather more complex in their buying habits. There are those who have a phone contract and regularly receive upgraded handsets. This often means that the device is largely underused.

Then there is the individual who has ‘got to have it’. These users become completely addicted to their smart phone, have it organised and filled with hundreds of supposedly useful apps to cover every eventuality and know every single fact and figure about it. It will never leave their side and is in use some way or another every waking hour.

Summary

Smart phones contain innovative technology, combining many devices and their functions, all in miniature. Words used by owners to describe their smart phones include sleek, clever, unbelievable and many others.The only derogatory comments come from the long-suffering partners of obsessed individuals. The final straw is when the smart phone, parked next to its addictive owner as ever, starts tweeting, bleeping or ringing at the dinner table!

Android on PCs, the much awaited deal

Running android on laptop is no more a farfetched dream now. After enjoying android’s -free- app on cellphones, the users can work on the same on their systems as well. BlueStacks App Player, a startup software package, is the name that is responsible for making the dream come true for android freaks.

Effortlessly, this software package runs and synchronizes Android apps to Windows computer. As per the stats, more than 550,000 downloads have been recorded since October this year and on top of that, it is a program which was released in alpha form seven weeks ago. A huge number, which definitely has a huge scope to escalate.

If windows 8 is coming in tablets than android on our systems would be equally excited idea. And this would beckon the users who would be now be experiencing android’s beautiful UI and a plethora of apps, which would be an added bonus of being in an arena of the OS.

I feel the aim behind all this is to lay the groundwork for the future of the PC-to-smartphone experience. By giving the cross device functionality BlueStacks has put the Android and Windows crowd a step ahead of Apple, which of course is a welcome move.

The BlueStacks app player gives a preloaded version of 10 Android Apps by default and simultaneously it supports 26 various apps. And on top of that, it asserts to come up with the paid apps while removing the number limit in its Pro version. Did I also tell you that the company’s future plans include the support of the app player for Mac OS X? Now that is called the much awaited deal one can vouch for!

Finally Nokia decided to change its Symbian OS to more user friendly windows mobile, its about time but doesn’t mean that the users don’t like the previous system but there’s a lot more changes to the mobile industries which Nokia is trying to get along and cope up with, and getting along just not include mobile alone it’s the whole package which comes along with it things like WI-fi ,Apps, email facility and lot more other stuffs which a mobile phone tend to require these days .Nokia understood that just a phone wouldn’t do the trick anymore and it’s all about what more can this little device we call “the mobile” can really do and how well it does it matters a lot today. so Nokia already mentioned that there will be changes to its next new invention and change was seen , changes brought in the form of Nokia’s Lumia. the giants of mobile phone industries team up with the herculean of computer industry to produce something revolutionary yet could change things to come but only time would tell how successful the two allies would be successful or not.So the lunch of the new and improved Nokia” in the form of Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 is gonna hit Indian market this month ,let’s go a bit deeper into the phone specifications shall we? the core system is completely changed from its predecessor , It’s called the first Nokia’s Windows mobile , first of its kind and more to come along with it.So ,Then what’s new with the Lumia, it looks kinda familiar too .that’s because the new Lumia takes up the appears of Nokia’s N9 both look pretty much alike but the system and the technology inside have completely changed, The phone looks good and different all together. Looking into the specifications it has a 3.7 inch screen , single core 1.4 GHz processor ,512 MB RAM,16 GB internal memory storage a 3.7 inch screen with 16 million colors also with 8Megpixel camera this is for the high end Lumia 800. probably it’s the configuration which is already existing with its competitors product but nor we cannot say it’s a brand new specification , it’s seems fairly similar with almost all the manufactures today.
The features with this mobile could bring a total change to the Nokia’s mobile ranges .one of the down side of this pretty little thing we found is that the lumia doesn’t have a front camera! yes this windows mobile which doesn’t have front camera so apps like Skype will not support video calls(Skype is consider to be one of the vital app for windows mobile) , more would be covered when we get our hands on the device so the phone is ready to hit the market all over and everyone are excited about it so be sure to check this space for more on Lumia when its out, feel free to let us know whether the new windows mobile will surpass the androids and the Iphones ,it’s expected to hit Indian market around third week ,probably mid December so it could be a perfect gift for Christmas. Nokia’s Lumia 800 price is expected to be around 25,000 – 29,000 INR

Tune in! , call it a radio ,call it a mobile app, or a internet radio for PC everything combines and there you have it, this is a all in on broadcast portal. it works as a online global radio portal for streaming music, user can now listen to radio, podcasts, record music and there’s whole bunch of other things that it offer .First the main feature about this is that it’s a online radio where you can choose from a wide rage of genre from over 50,000 channels across the world and choose any radio station from anywhere, the best part of it is you can be in any part of the world and listen to any radio station in any part of the globe. it has a lota bunch of station that you can choose from and with wide rage of categories.

Tune in also offers you to promote your station as well as listen to podcast and lets you record songs and play it again later, that’s my personal favorite. Recording songs happens only if you happen to purchase the pro version. It pretty much covered everything from music to sport, news, talk shows and also includes boasting and podcasting. So how it works is just select the station that you want to listen bookmark it on your favorites for easy access, it also allows you to buy music if the user like what they listening to, also it allows you to share which station that the user is currently listing on facebook and also allows to tweet the song that the user might currently listen. User can now search a particular song they like and if it’s playing in any of the radio then it can be streamed and listened in the live radio! Is that cool or what.

Android Market’s new layout

If you haven’t noticed it, Google have changed the look of the entire android market interface Via mobile, the band new look replaces the small icons with bold medium ones and also you get to look at the featured items apps thumbnails which sometime tempting to buy other than that nothing much to tell about the new interface its just a simple thumbnail pictures and when you move into it just try to look closely you can see that not much changes have been done, When you try to browse it with a portrait view everything looks to be cramped up.

The old design was good and much more better looking than the brand new design, anyway I cannot think much new things in the new layout but one which I had a quick peek was the share button on the top right which was new and I nearly forgot about this, the main icon of the android market was changed, it replaces the old traditional icon to somewhat decent looking dimensional icon.

Screen Capturing

We found that capturing the screen on your android mobile is something tricky and we are not sure how many users might know this but we at ByteChip have found this while, well. Just simply using it. One of the things many people demands is to capture the screen ,looking for an app to do this or just rooting the phone and waiting something to happen . well when we were just trying to get to multiple things at the same time we accidently clicked few buttons and noticed that the screen was captured .it was kind of shock at first don’t know what just happened but after the same thing repeated we started to figure this out, After trying for a long time we finally cracked how the screen capturing works but still we don’t know weather it will works on your android mobile but still just give it a try, we also did some research on this and found that you need android 2.2 for this to work.

So what do you do is first Just hold on the back button which must be on the bottom right for the Samsung mobiles don’t take your hand off and then press the home button which is the middle one and wala! You would be successfully capturing the current screen that is in.we tried this in few of the Samsung mobiles it worked.

Try this and let us know whether your android mobile captures the screen with this technique.
