Acronis Disk Director Suite is one of the widely known Disk Management Software available for Windows. Unlike some of the free partition managers, Acronis provides a whole lot of Advanced features for disk management. Acronis provides two modes of GUI – the classic Partition view and the new Windows Explorer like view. Some of the disk management actions present includes Copy Partition, Move Partition, Resize, Merge, Delete, Create partition etc. Acronis also comes up with a password protection and avoids access from restricted users.
What’s so Special about Disk management Softwares
Windows or Linux, whatever OS be it, there will be a pre-installed tool for taking care of Hard Disk Management. In that case why do we need to install third party softwares like Acronis ? Well the answer is , the pre- installed HardDisk management tools sometimes fail to work. I have a Sony Vaio EA16 laptop with Windows 7 and Ubuntu Dual boot. During the installation, I failed to allocate some 150Gb, which was in free space. I tried using both Ubuntu and Windows 7 to partition the free space. But all efforts went in vain. Finally I had to use Acronis to resolve the problem and allocate partition in the free space. So similar to this there are various cases, where the inbuilt tools won’t help and we need to seek the help of these third party Disk Management tools.
