How to Set Proxy in Gtalk

Google Talk is one of widely used chat application in Windows these days. Incase your Internet Provider or the server has any proxy connections , then it must be specified in the each applications in windows so as to access Internet. You may face problems like Gtalk not signing in or other network problems with gtalk. To overcome all these connection issues you got to specify the proxy settings of Google Talk.

How to Set Proxy For Gtalk

  1. Open Gtalk Windows, In the Top Right click on Settings link. gtalk setting How to Set Proxy in Gtalk
  2. In the Left Panel choose the option Connections.
  3. In the Right Panel change the option to “Use the Following Proxy”
  4. In the Host you need to enter the IP address or the host domain address (Eg. 192.16.3.254 ).
  5. In the Port enter the port number of the Proxy (Eg: 8080)
  6. Some proxies would require authentication to sign in. Such case Enable the Proxy Requires Authenticaiton checkbox.
  7. In the user name and password enter the required details.

    Cool , i didnt know you can use any proxy in gtalk just like in browsers :)
    But wats the use of it really ? Because you cant surf any blocked sitesin gtalk , and how can its be possible for anyone to track your IP via gtalk ?

    hay ~! that’s not work~! help me i want to ask u
    the user name and password need to add our gmail password and username??
    i really understand it >.<

      The username and password there is that of the proxy server, not your gmail id.
      Incase if your proxy has no authentication , kindly disable the check box, before the username. (Proxy requires Authentication)
