I was looking for a simpler Adsense placement plugin and I finally settled with a plugin called WhyDoWork. As the name sounds, the plugin is so developed to reduce your efforts in placing the ads.
One advantage of this plugin, that would grab your attention is that you need not edit the theme code at all, inorder to place the ads. By this way even if you change the theme, the ads will still be displayed. As far my experience it is the best WordPress Plugin for Adsense.
Features of WhyDoWork WordPress Plugin
- Not even a single code needs to be added into your theme for placing ads.
- No matter what theme you change to the ad placements will show commonly for all the themes.
- Placement of ads in various pages such as Homepage, Category, Pages, Post etc.,
- Ability to exclude certain pages and posts from displaying ads.
- Show a different pattern of ads for those posts which are older than specified number of days.
- Light weight, doesn’t use any additional Javascript or CSS to display ads.
- Ability to block the Adsense units for the administrators so you don’t click on the ads accidently. (Obviously you need to be signed in for that)
- There are 9 ad placements available such as Top, Top Middle, Top Left, Top Right, Middle, Middle Left, Middle Right, Bottom and Random. (Random places the ads in any of the above 8 places )
Drawbacks of WhydoWork WordPress Plugin
- Limit of 3 ads per each placement group, i.e I cannot place more than 3 ads in the Sidebar and other pages. Hardly people would use more than 3 , but in some rare cases , if you want to place more than 3 , this is not the plugin for you then.
- Some times, the ad is combined with the caption of the images, the ad appears below the caption text of images, which doesn’t look so good.
- Absence of placement such as Bottom Right and Bottom Left .
- Custom ad location cannot be added, you must choose only between the 9 ad placements listed.

Inspite of the drawbacks for any webmaster who like to place ads in most used positions,this plugin will be really handy.
