Disqus as you all know is a very popular Comment management system. If you are tired of using the normal WordPress Comment System and wanted something neat and simple, you got to opt for Disqus. Recently Disqus supports Akismet Spam Protection.

If a webmaster feels that he needs to block Spam comments, he can now link his Akismet and Disqus.

How to Use Akismet in Disqus

1. Login the Disqus Home Page.

2. Choose “Comments” section in the top area (as shown above).
3. Select the “Settings” Option (as shown below).

4. In the Left Side, Select “General” option, Scroll down to the bottom and Enable the Option “Akismet” .

5. Enter your Akismet API in the given text box and click on “Save Changes“.  This will enable the Akismet Spam Protection instantly on the site and you can block spam in Disqus.

Q: Should Akismet WordPress Plugin be installed in order to enable Akismet in Disqus ?

A: Akismet WordPress Plugin is not required to be installed in WordPress. Its only if you have the traditional WordPress Comment System you need to have Akismet installed.
