VPC EA1B Review
EA1B fits well in comparison with the previous release of Sony – Vaio VPC EB 14 and Sony Vaio VPC EA16
Operating System
Sony EA1B comes with Windows 7 Premium Edition. This 64 bit Operating System can get the best out of the powerful hardware. Operating System Rating: 5/5.
Processor
EA1B is powered by Core i5 Processor, The 520M Processor has a comfortable 3 Mb Cache and an effective Turbo boost upto 2.93 Ghz. This is the same processor as that of used in Sony VPC EA16. Processor Rating: 5/5
Memory
VPC EA16 is packed with 3 Gb DDR3 SDRAM, with 2 slots and expandable upto 4 Gb. However for the price this laptop is used, Sony should have supplied 4Gb to benchmark this laptop with the other competitive models. Memory Rating: 3/5
Graphics & Display
The Display size and type is 14″ WXGA Display with a resolution of 1366 x 76.However here is the other stupidity from Sony, the laptophas 512 Mb Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. I’m not a big fan of High graphic games, but for the price we pay, people atleast expect 1 Gb these days. Nevertheless Sony is still Sony and people buy their product depending on their use.As a critic I would say Graphics Rating: 2/5.
Sony EA1B Price in India: Rs.52,490

EB14 has a 15″ screen and a 512MB ATI Radeon 5470 graphics, which is way better than the intel onboard graphics… Moreover the price difference between an i3-330 and i5-520 is around 7000 INR (wrt Dell upgrade options). This lap is priced wrong by Sony… I’d recommend not to buy this lap… If you are looking for i5, go for the EA16… Its got a superb graphics card, more storage, more ram, just 5000 INR more than this over priced toy…
If not, stick on to an EB14. Its value for money… Cheers
