Hello guys… With all the speculations and hearsays, all we can do is pray for an EB16 with an i5-520 processor, full HD Vaio display plus LED screen, with no other changes (especially the ATI M5650) at a price of no more than Rs 57k, renamed as EB26…

Ps: there is no harm if sony gives us a faster(7200 rpm) hard disk or a better web cam along with it ;)
If they are putting an i5-430 in it, best buy would be @ 53k…
    Plz do correct my mistakes…
    Thanks.

Is there anything called a total LED screen? There is an OLED screen thats used in some phones like iphone 3gs and the new 4g, but has that technology embarked on laptops?
The display of EB series is already led backlit… Is the new EB26 going to have anything different from it? I mean, is there a potential chance, especially for a laptop that costs around 50k?
Anyone with technical info plz contribute… If there is none, then I can comfortably dream just about an i5 processor in EB26… ;) :-D
Sorry if I’m nagging too much… Just too much excited and curious…
    Thank you. :-)

To my knowledge as you said there is only OLED , Organic LED. Sony first used it in their CLIE PDA thing, and it was Samsung who introduced a Laptop with OLED Display this year. I asked my friend who is a dealer in Sony , he isn’t that very sure about the configuration, but he got info that it will be released by June 21, I guess by next week, he will get the specification and demo laptop, lets see, I’m waiting eagerly for it too.

I’m going to buy EA16 for my PG Studies, now I’m waiting to see if Eb26 is any better than that.

and I think the price is going to be 51,990/ INR if the press release is correct… There are a few other models too in the EB2x series. Check press release…
    Thanks guys.
Anyway I’ll be getting one as soon as it is out… not because I’m damn interested, but because of lack of options.

Guys ………….I think I’ll still be able to get an EB 16 someplace in mumbai (not sure though) . If i am able to find one…..would it still be better to go for an EB 26…….considering the fact that it just has a higher frequency with the same processor which makes it slightly faster vis-a-vis EB 16.

Also, EB 26 has just the trial versions of Adobe® Premiere® Elements 8 (30 day tryout version), Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 8 (30 day tryout version); while EB 16 comes with the full versions.

Though EB 26 comes with a full version of Office 2010…….but it is just the starter one.

Would it be better to go for an EB 26 for 52/53K or an EB 16 for 50K?????

I doubt if EB16 is still in rotation, my sources say that they have stopped eb16. I’m a hardcore fan of Linux, even if I get with Windows 7 , I will anyway format and install OpenSuse, so the software part doesn’t make much difference to me, Actually SAL and me were discussing about the new things that EB26 could bring up with, Sal even considered the OLED Display, but all much to our disappointment, there isn’t big upgrade. I strongly suggest, that if EB26 is more than 52K , you can pay another 5k to it and buy Sony EA 16.

BTW here is the specification for EB 26 http://www.bytechip.com/2010/06/sony-vpc-eb26-price/

EA16 is ofcourse a powerful machine especially for multitasking… but for leasure purpose, EB26 would be a good option… Display quaility of EB26 would really be good, as far as I know… Thats a big plus point for entertainment purpose… And moreover 5k is a pretty big amount… If Ash is planning big time multitasking, I’d suggest you take EA16…If not go for EB26…
