i have own a EB 14 laptop…
this is my 3rd eb 14 laptop cos i had speaker problem(both right side not working) with previous 2.
they replaced laptop twice but iam still getting same problem again and again. laptop getting over heated within 1/2 hour.i trusted sony very much but never expected that this product turned to be such a crap…

Hi I own an EB-14 Laptop from last one month.

The machine is really good and its a joy working on it … specially the Keypad… its butter smooth with isolated Keys.

But I also have observations:

(1) The battery backup time is just over 2 hrs. … some other brands claim 3+ hrs.

(2) The lappy heats up during a use of 30 min … so its not that comfortable if you directly put it on your lap ( specially while wearing shorts )

(3) I tried a couple of time but I have still not been able to see its video output on my LCD TV using HDMI out. It works with VGA out.

Recently I noted on the VAIO website that sony has new introduced new series EB-26, EB-24 along with existing EB-16 and EB-14. They have 2,000 Rs extra in their price tag.

The differences are :
(1) Core i3 350M instead of 330M.
(2) New Graphic Card.

Rest everything is ditto.

If anyone of you own EB-14 and has been able to see its audio-video on LCD TV through HDMI then please let me know.

And ya … there is always a waiting period associated with this model, you have to periodically poll the vendor for its arrival. I too had to wait for more than a month …. But the machine is WORTH THE WAIT.

Hi… Battery backup is about 3hrs max… This lap is not to be compared with Dell studio 15, I mean thats a different league… Compare it with Inspiron 15… Its got almost the same features, but Vaio’s built quality is just awsome… And as Mr. Rajvel said, the pre installed applications are fun to use…
Sony made a big blunder in pricing EB12 and EB14… The price difference between two is just 2k… But the features that you get more in 14 is costlier per-se. 1GB RAM plus a 512MB ATI graphic card… Make advantage of this weak point… Go and buy this lappy
