Social Bookmarking., this is the one of the valuable resource that every blogger in the startup misses. That includes me too., at first I use to only write articles, I never participated in the others blogs, I never bookmarked the articles, only me and some of my friends used to visit my site then.
At last I changed the strategy, I started participating in other blogs, I started bookmarking the articles. The magic worked, previously I used to get less than 30 visitors a day and now I get several hundred visitors per day. And guess what most of the visits are from Social networks, second being Search Engine and finally are direct visits.
Its been just 4 months since I started ByteChip, the journey of blogging was really amazing. I have learned a lot from Blogging and it made me to find fellow bloggers who turned out to be very good friends. I write this article out of my experience in Social bookmarking sites. If there are any fellow bloggers who have just started or who are inactive in social bookmarking, I suggest you can follow the below.
Stumble It – There can’t be a better Bookmarking than this !!
One of my friend and successful fellow blogger Shrawan Raja from IndianAutosBlog stumbled one of my article 3 months back, that was the first post in ByteChip to get stumbled, a site which I considered to be different from Digg, finally proved that I was wrong. I received more than a hundred visitors from StumbleUpon for that article. And it was the first time, ByteChip got more than 100 visitors in a day. After seeing this, I started submitting each of my post to StumbleUpon. And it has show great response.
One of my article on How to create Bootable USB Linux has now more than 11,000 visitors through StumbleUpon. So I suggest fellow bloggers to use to StumbleUpon. People may think its just another bookmarking site, but I’m telling you StumbleUpon is Instant Traffic generator. If you have luck, you can generate thousands to visitors to your article through SU.
Digg – The more friends you have, the better is Digg
I have not been active in Digg,. so the friend list in Digg is quite less, Inspite of the many articles I submitted I got few diggs, thats it. But one thing which I really like in Digg, is that it can also generate traffic to your blog, through custom search. When the person who digs searches for a particular topic and you have better number of diggs, bet you will be in their top list. Some of my posts with just 1 digg has earned some 50 visits to my blog last week. But I suggest that if you want to take full advantage of Digg, have a better number of mutual friends in it, because the Digg community works that way. So better submitting anything to Digg, make sure you have a decent number of friends in the list. (Because its too embarrassing to see posts with just 1 Digg
)
Delicious: Not been so delicious for me !!!
I started submitting in Delicious in the same time as I started Digg, and the worst thing is that I have not received even a single visitor from Delicious to my site. Man I know that sucks, I tried to search Goolge for my posts in Delicious and it returned a big “Your Search did not match any Documents”, wow it cannot be great than this, I wasted so much time on submitting to delicious and finally I get a big zero out of it. From that day on, I stopped submitting to delicious. Digg is far better than Delicious, it atleast shows the search result of your submitted articles in Google. If anyone has got better experience in Delicious, please do share it, because Im planning to quit submitting from delicious, such a waste of time !!!

till now i am simply ignoring stumble upon.. seems that this time to act .. will check up stumbleupon and start participating actively..

Twitter, FB gives better traffic, But i dont count them under Social bookmarking sites,. Talking abt Reddit, not good experience with it mate. The only gud thing about reddit was my posts were shown in google, but it doesn’t drive traffic !!
I also failde in delicious.. but once i got about 1000 visitors from it, and that it, no more… What about reddit.com? Its a great site to submit your content! but be careful…. do not submit too much or you won’t get anything out of it!
.-= Pubudu Kodikara´s latest blog ..Advanced System Protector : A Must Have, Free Anti Malware Scanner =-.
Reddit also no response dude,. I havnt submitted a lot though., my favorite is Stumble Upon as it gets the best traffic.
These services are good for instant traffic, such posts will index search engines within 1-2 minutes. but now i reduced digging and stumbling.
.-= Anish K.S´s latest blog ..Become a Gmail Ninja =-.
Yes, Anish, Digg and Mixx are really good in terms of SEO listing.
i had great luck with stumble upon in terms of traffic, but the visits doesnot results in anything, its like bot traffic that does not converts very well… anyways, there’s quite a few social site that had worked for me, which includes propeller and mixx

Mixx doesn’t give me much traffic, but the results are listed in google.
Thanks for Sharing your Experiences!
SU is great! but it doesn’t yield traffic everytime.. we must be active in SU , stumbling others submission also… if we keep on submitting our own articles.. it will be not that effective to get a nice traffic
.-= Chethan´s latest blog ..Chevrolet Beat TV Ad. Beat in India, The Car of Year 2010 =-.
Ya thats also there dude, I keep stumbling whenever Im free., I must tell you this SU has really good articles being submitted.
StumbleUpon is really great, one can get a huge traffic on a particular day thru Stumbleupon. Digg can be a regular traffic generator. One should also try Mixx and reddit for bookmarking.

Hi Sanjecv., its really good to see you here., Will give a try to Mixx and Reddit again., but previously Reddit fetched no profit from bookmarking.
Just to really start promoting.. damn these busy days! I will make sure I will re read these tips before implementing.. and yea, SU has a lot of potential! I rem those Aug 2007 days where I had the best traffic
.-= Bangaloreloka´s latest blog ..Quick Comments on Blogs.. LOL Blinkky! =-.
Wow so everyone has a better experience with StumbleUpon., great:)
StumbleUpon has worked well for me a lot of times, but never got real success with Digg! I think that only popular blogs land on the Digg HomePage, small blogs don’t really have a chance.
.-= Rohit Sane´s latest blog ..Cool and Funky T-Shirts with Quotes for Girls and Boys =-.
Digg works better with more friends dude., but Thats the not the case with StumbleUpon.
Hey Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I personally believe that Stumbleupon generates lot of traffic, well using Digg from last month so not able to comment on that, but surely share with you later..
But now I am thinking of giving a shot to mix. What do you say ??
.-= Yogesh Mankani´s latest blog ..Give me another chance, I wanna grow up once again =-.

.-= Tinh´s latest blog ..Sharp Thesis Theme Skin with 8 New Color Schemes =-.
Good to hear that you are also in the RT Club. Cheers Tinh
had good exp with SU and Digg, i have also tried getting from reddit but then stopped using it. Other SB sites i havent used till now.
But the traffic from SB sites are not much valuable, Increases bounce rates of our site as well.
Yup thats there dude, But Bounce rate doesnt matter at all, You check the top tech blogs they have a very higher bounce rate. Bounce rate doesnt matter incase if some people can come to know about our blog.
Superb article!Social bookmarking involves saving bookmarks one would normally make in a Web browser to a public Web site and tagging them with keywords. The community-driven, keyword-based classifications may change how we store and find information online.
