It is  obvious that when it comes to CD or DVD Burning in Windows, the word that most of the buzz about in their mind is “NERO”.  Nero has got such an influence in Windows Operating System for Disk Burning. What about Linux then ? Does Nero run on Linux, Well the answer is “YES Nero Supports Linux”. Don’t be too happy because here comes something that shocked me. “Nero for Linux” is not free !! You got to buy the software for 20 USD. You must note that the price for Nero on Windows cost about 70 USD.

What I hate in Nero Linux ?

The price: 20 USD may be low when compared to the Windows version of Nero, but who prefers buying a software when they are using Linux. Take me for example, Ever Since I moved to Linux, I dint even spend a single penny for the softwares I use. Nero for Linux sounds good, but they the rate of people buying them is very less, because most of the features in Nero, like BluRay burning, Menu Editing, this – that and lot more are all covered by other softwares that are free to download and use. Nero has a good name in the burning industry, they must have considered reducing the price to some more, incase they should really pick up sales in Linux. My point of view frankly Nero for Linux is a boon for people in Video / Audio Editing Industry who are on Linux and its a joke for normal Linux users like me.

Actually the Linux version is stable dude, you wont experience any slow down in computer in Linux version. And one more fact, as far as all the Burning softwares I have seen in Windows, the speed of your computer will seem to be slow, during the burning process., its becuase more resource is spent on the burning.

Brasero is awesome. May be its doesn’t have lot of features like Nero but its really awesome. Does work in seconds. Nero should know when they are coming to open source market they shouldn’t expect selling softwares.
