Kaspersky blocks Infolinks – Trojan Activity

Posted by on Jan 4, 2010 in Web | 18 comments

I’m using Kaspersky Internet Security, the infolinks text ad service worked fine till today, but I think there is some kind of problem in the server side of Infolinks, they have modifed their javascript today, that made Kaspersky to detect and categorize the Infolinks Javascript as a Trojan. From Webmaster side there is no remedy to the problem, until infolinks updates its Javascript from the abnormal Trojan like activity. I removed infolinks today because of the warning.

Here is the screenshot of Kaspersky Internet Security blocking Infolinks Javascript to load in the browser.

Infolinks Blocked by Kaspersky

Trojan Details:

  • Trojan Downloader JS.Agent.ewi downloads malware into the victim site and then redirects the web-browser to the host page.

Resolved:

The problem in infolinks has been resolved this evening, below is the message of a chief person from Infolinks who responded to this issue

“It seems that Kaspersky has mistakenly identified a few characters in our
packed Javascript to be similar to a certain trojan virus. Our tech team
have made the required changes to avoid this mistake.

Just to be very clear about this: This was a mistake that has nothing to do
with Infolinks. Infolinks is not related to any virus, not affected by a
virus, and this mistake by Kaspersky seems to be behind us (it took just a
couple of hours).”

Hi all,

This is Shay from Infolinks.

Thanks for the concern. You can be sure we were very much alarmed as well.
