Sony ericssons’ Programming Language

Do you belive that sony ericsson together with Chalmers University of Technology,Sweden and ELTE University,Hungary have launched a new Programming language.

Why should a mobile making firm develop their own Programming language, while the competitors are bringing up new OS platforms. This high level programming language is called Feldspar (Functional Embedded Language for DSP and PARallelism).

FELDSPAR is developed under the already existing language, HASKELL( Which was not that popular). It is specially developed for parallel processing and many other DSP related operations.It is sure that there will be a considerable change in the performance of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson mobiles.

Sony, unlike its competitor is promoting open source to the world. Will they succeed , can Feldspar deliver the performance as promised. Let us wait to find out.
