IMEI number is a 15 digit number assigned to a mobile phone. Every handset has a unique number and it helps in tracking the mobile phones.User can check for a IMEI number on the back of the mobile phone by removing the battery or the IMEI number can simply be found by typing ” *#06# ” in any mobile, It displays a 16 digit number which is the users International Mobile Equipment Identity number if you do get the 16 digit number be sure its a valid one ,To check whether the number is valid send a SMS with the text IMEI to 57886 or 53232 and you will find out about the validity of your IMEI number.Government has already warned about this but still their are millions of cell phones users use  mobiles without IMEI number.Be sure to check your  IMEI number as soon as possible.

    Finally, Government woke up. But bad luck govt., I can change my IMEI within seconds.
    And people can get it done for Rs.100 from market. This move just won’t help.
    They need to prepare database of Black IMEI and silently track usage and catch the Thieves.
    UK already does this since last 6-7 years.

    @Taranfx it is not rs.100 they were charging rs.199 for new IMEI and one need to get an id Proof to get an IMEI for his mobile.. for more info visit http://www.msai.in/gii.html
